Not all center consoles are hardcore fishing machines. The 270 Dauntless is a case in point, one of a growing number of so-called “crossover” boats whose versatile layout is suitable for a variety of family-centered activities. Built on an unsinkable, foam-filled hull, the Dauntless is a roomy 27-footer with distinctive styling (note the wide bow area) and seating for a small crowd. Highlights include a full-width aft casting platform,

three insulated forward fish boxes, wraparound bow seating (with folding backrests), console head compartment with pumpout, and standard leaning post with cooler and removable backrest. An extensive list of factory options includes a fiberglass hardtop, anchor windlass with through-stem anchoring system, deluxe

leaning post with sink and 30-gallon livewell, ski-tow pylon, underwater lights, and a cockpit refrigerator. A bow filler cushion converts the entire bow area into a huge sun pad (requires the optional bow casting insert). Without the windlass option, there's room under the bow hatch for a beach boarding ladder.
